Overview

All district-issued devices are configured with a standard set of approved software applications to support teaching, learning, and operational efficiency. These applications are maintained and updated by the Technology and Information Services (TIS) Department in compliance with Board Policy 6163.4 – Student Use of Technology and district cybersecurity standards.

Standard Installed Applications

Application Description / Function
Microsoft Office Provides tools for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and includes Outlook for email management.
Adobe PDF Reader Allows users to view, print, and annotate PDF documents.
Google Chrome Web browser for accessing online educational resources and web applications.
Mozilla Firefox Alternate browser for web-based applications and compatibility testing.
Microsoft Edge Secure browser integrated with Windows for accessing online resources.
SentinelOne Endpoint detection, response, and antivirus protection to secure district devices.
Windows 11 District standard operating system for all Windows-based devices.
UEM Agent Unified Endpoint Management tool for device inventory, asset tracking, and remote support.
Lightspeed Agent Provides web content filtering, cybersecurity monitoring, and compliance with CIPA (Children’s Internet Protection Act).

Note: Some applications are automatically deployed to district devices through the AUSD Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) system. Devices must remain connected to the district network for updates and security patches.


Requesting an Application Installation

If you require a software application that is not pre-installed, submit a Work Order Request through the TIS Work Order System.
Please include the following information:

  1. Application Name – from the list above or specify if different.

  2. Purpose/Justification – brief explanation of why the application is needed.

  3. Cost Information – include vendor or pricing details, if known.

  4. Download Link or Website – where the installer or information can be found.

Important: Only district-approved applications may be installed on AUSD devices.
