For Site Staff
Signing in
Marquee content is managed at https://venus.daktronics.com (Venus Control Suite). Sign in with the Daktronics account issued to your site. This is a vendor account — not your AUSD/Okta login. Do not share it.
Account changes — new user, removed user, email change, password reset — go to Technology Services, not Daktronics. We hold the district account and need to know who has access at each site.

Assign Marquee task to Ashton for now.
This will be switched to the AV tech once the position is filled.
When something is wrong with the marquee
- Content problem (wrong message, won't post, scheduling issue) → try In-App Guidance inside VCS, then open a ticket.
- Display problem (blank, dark pixels, partial panel, garbled, offline) → open a ticket. Include site, what the display is doing, and a photo.
- Emergency or safety message that must go up now → call 626.943.3040. Don't email.
Do not call Daktronics yourself. Cases are tied to district account and serial numbers, and duplicate cases slow the fix down.
Free training — do this before any live webinar
Daktronics asks customers to complete self-training first. Plan on about an hour.

Copy Technology Services on scheduling requests so we can track who is trained at each site.
For AUSD Technology Staff
Before escalating to the vendor
- Confirm power and network connectivity to the player/media controller.
- Rule out content-side causes: valid, scheduled, non-expired message in VCS.
- Reboot the controller if reachable; note the result.
- Capture site, display serial number, photo of the fault, and time the issue started.
Account administration (VCS)
| Task | Reference |
|---|---|
| Add or create a user | KB 000001586 |
| Remove or delete a user | KB DD3104298 |
| Reset a password | KB 000002591 · Daktronics-hosted password change |
| Login troubleshooting | KB 000001349 · profile not set up |
VCS accounts are vendor-hosted and not in Okta. They do not deprovision when staff leave — remove them manually as part of site offboarding. Issue named accounts per user; no shared site logins. Review site account lists annually and after any front-office staffing change.

Daktronics publishes a standard response time of under four hours for non-urgent cases. When troubleshooting live, call from the display location with equipment connected and powered, and have the case number ready.
Escalation path
Technician → Technology Support Manager (James Johnston) → Director of Technology. Escalate immediately if the marquee is needed for emergency or safety messaging and cannot be updated.
